PLUTA restructuring expert Peter Roeger announces rescue of Bayreuth Tigers – fresh start lies ahead

10 May 2024 · Bayreuth · Business Area Insolvency Administration

Insolvency administrator Mr Peter Roeger from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has announced that the insolvency plan is now legally binding and the Bayreuth Tigers have therefore been saved. No creditor objected to the insolvency plan for the restructuring of Bayreuth Tigers Eishockey GmbH (now onesto Tigers Bayreuth Eishockey GmbH) in the past 14 days. The Local Court of Bayreuth will terminate the insolvency proceedings in the coming weeks and Bayreuth will continue to enjoy professional ice hockey as the club is now in a position to apply for its Upper League licence.

“We are delighted that we have found a way to preserve the Bayreuth Tigers and therefore maintain its participation in the league. The approval of the insolvency plan is a strong signal for the future of the club. The time limit for lodging an appeal has now expired and the business can make a fresh start. We wish Mr Lünenborg from onesto and the new team every success in this,” said attorney Mr Roeger. Together with his PLUTA colleague business lawyer Mr Holger Christian Buehler, he had drawn up the plan beforehand and submitted it to the Local Court of Bayreuth.

Now that the insolvency plan has become legally binding, investor onesto will become a new shareholder in the limited liability company in order to stabilise the club’s finances and maintain its participation in the league. The PLUTA attorney already concluded an agreement with the Bavarian software company on 28 March 2024. Mr Thomas Lünenborg is the managing director of onesto Tigers Bayreuth Eishockey GmbH. He is one of the shareholders in onesto, which provides a web-based platform for business travel management. “We would like to thank everyone who played their part in this process – the insolvency administrator, creditors, club management, city officials in Bayreuth and the fans. With everyone’s combined efforts, we are now looking to a promising season. The new Bayreuth Tigers logo is already the first sign of our fresh start,” said Mr Thomas Lünenborg.
