Restructuring expert Dr. Laubereau sells Lohrey Clinic

The insolvency administrator Dr. Stephan Laubereau from PLUTA Rechtsanwalts GmbH has succeeded in finding a buyer for the Lohrey Clinic. Thanks to the insolvency plan proceedings he can transfer the rehabilitation clinic free of debt to the new owner. Rolf Scholz from Bad König will take over the clinic with all 140 employees. Tobias Bretthauer will be appointed as the managing director. This constellation has also been notified to the persons responsible for the spa town in which the clinic is located. In January 2014, Scholz has already taken over the local Rhönblick Clinic, which is also headed by Bretthauer.

On 7 May 2015, the creditors of Klinik Lohrey GmbH approved the insolvency plan during the discussion and voting meeting, which took place before the Local Court of Hanau, and appointed Mr. Scholz as the new owner. This means that the insolvency proceedings are now completed, the clinic is free of debt and all jobs will be saved.

Dr. Laubereau explained: “With this sale, we have achieved the best solution for everybody concerned. The clinic thus has very good perspectives for the future.” Several investors were interested in buying the clinic. Finally, Scholz was awarded the contract due to his knowledge of the local conditions and his convincing concept, added Dr. Laubereau.

Since its opening in 1958, the claims asserted against the clinic have continuously accumulated. Most recently, the clinic was no longer able to invest in its business. Against this background filing for insolvency, as was done in November 2014, and conducting associated insolvency plan proceedings were the only chance to save the jobs and to re-establish a healthy financial base for the clinic.
